Ever wish you could have fresh flowers in your house every month? Well, you can!

I’ve found 12 amazing plants that bloom right on schedule, one for each month. Ready to turn your home into a year-round flower show?

Let’s get started!

Monthly Blooming Plants Guide

January – Christmas Cactus

My holiday season extends into January thanks to the Christmas Cactus. This beauty blooms from late November to the beginning of the year. I’ve learned that it takes advantage of longer nights to produce its stunning flowers. It’s like having a bit of festive cheer lingering in my home even after the decorations come down!

February – African Violet

As winter starts to wane, my African Violets steal the show. These delicate flowers are quite the divas when it comes to light. I’ve noticed they bloom as the days gradually lengthen, almost as if they’re signaling the end of winter. It’s their way of whispering, “Spring is coming!”

March – Peace Lily

When spring arrives, my Peace Lilies celebrate with a burst of white flowers. The increased light and warmer temperatures of March create the ideal conditions for these beauties to blossom. It’s like they’re welcoming the new season with open arms.

April – Orchids

April in my home is all about Orchids. These exotic beauties thrive in the bright but indirect light of early spring. Their unique blossoms never fail to catch the eye of visitors, making them the perfect conversation starter at my spring gatherings.

May – Geraniums

As temperatures warm up in May, my Geraniums take center stage. I’ve found that the longer sunlight hours are crucial for their vibrant blossoms. It’s like they’re soaking up every bit of sunshine to produce their colorful displays.

June – Begonias

June brings longer days, and my Begonias respond with enthusiasm. They burst into bloom as if celebrating the extra daylight. Their cheerful flowers always remind me that summer is in full swing.

July – Hibiscus

Midsummer belongs to my Hibiscus plants. These show-stoppers bloom in response to the high sunlight levels of July. Their large, tropical flowers make me feel like I’m on vacation without leaving home. The longer daylight hours create the perfect environment for these beauties to shine.

August – Gloxinia

As summer reaches its peak, my Gloxinia plants follow suit. They operate on the principle of photoperiodism, using the long sunlight duration of August as their cue to burst into full bloom. It’s nature’s way of giving summer one last hurrah!

September – Chrysanthemums

When fall arrives, my Chrysanthemums steal the spotlight. These symbols of autumn offer a stunning display that rivals the changing leaves outside. Their blooms always signal to me that it’s time to break out the pumpkin spice!

October – Cyclamen

As temperatures start to drop in October, my Cyclamen plants spring into action. Triggered by the cooler weather, they produce beautiful blossoms in shades of pink, white, and red. It’s like they’re trying to add a pop of color to counter the grey days of fall.

November – Kalanchoe

November’s shorter days and longer nights create the perfect setting for my Kalanchoe plants. As short-day plants, they need these longer periods of darkness to initiate flowering. It’s almost as if they’re providing a bright spot during the darkening days of late autumn.

December – Poinsettia

My year of indoor blooms comes full circle with December’s Poinsettias. While not technically flowers, their colorful bracts are stunning during the festive season. I’ve noticed their color transition happens in response to the shorter daylight hours of winter. It’s nature’s way of decorating for the holidays!
