15 Best Indoor Vines & Climbers You Can Grow Easily In Home

Written by Emily Belkoff

One day, while picking up toys from my living room floor (again!), I realized our house needed something to make it feel more grown-up and peaceful.

Then I tried growing some indoor vines, and wow – what a difference!

If you want to make your home look better without much work, these 15 plants are perfect for you!

15 Easy-to-Grow Indoor Vines & Climbers

1. English Ivy

My journey into indoor vines started with English Ivy, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer! This fast-growing beauty has become my go-to recommendation for plant-nervous friends.

What I absolutely adore about English Ivy is how it stays gorgeously green all year round, even during those dreary winter months when everything else looks blah.

I keep mine in my home office where it gets bright indirect sunlight, and it’s thriving like nobody’s business!

2. Pothos

If you’re anything like me when I first started my plant journey, you’ll love Pothos. It’s basically the “set it and forget it” of houseplants!

I actually have one growing in my laundry room of all places, where it gets barely any natural light, and it’s still growing like crazy.

Just keep the soil moist, and you’re good to go – perfect for those days when you’re running after toddlers and forget to water your plants!

3. Beetle Leaf Plant

This little gem has become my favorite bathroom plant companion. The humid conditions from our daily showers make it super happy.

Just make sure it gets some partial sun exposure, and you’ll be rewarded with beautiful foliage that adds a tropical touch to any space.

4. Jasmine

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about the heavenly scent of indoor Jasmine! It’s like having a natural air freshener that actually works.

I positioned mine near our living room window where it gets a few hours of direct sunlight each day.

The fragrance wafting through the house during blooming season makes all those weekend Netflix binges feel extra fancy!

5. Creeping Fig

When I first got my Creeping Fig, I was worried it would grow too fast and take over (like that time my kids’ slime experiment went wrong!). But this slow-growing cutie has been perfectly behaved.

Its small, leathery dark green leaves create the most enchanting wall coverage you could imagine.

My favorite part? The way its dense branches naturally cling to surfaces – no complicated trellises needed!

6. Kangaroo Vine

Let me tell you about my newest plant obsession – the Kangaroo Vine! It’s become the star of my home office zoom background.

The copper-colored leaves absolutely steal the show, especially as they age into this gorgeous glossy dark finish.

I’ve found it thrives best in my bright kitchen window, where it gets plenty of natural light to show off those stunning leaves.

7. String of Pearls

Now, I’ll be honest with you – my first String of Pearls was a complete disaster! These delicate beauties require a gentler touch than my usual “wing it” approach to plant care.

But don’t let that scare you away! Once I figured out they actually prefer to dry out between waterings (much like my teenager prefers space), we got along just fine.

I keep mine in a bright spot away from my cats’ curious paws, and it’s now thriving in its hanging basket.

8. Black-Eyed Susan Vine

Looking for something that’ll add a pop of color to your space? This flowering beauty has become my secret weapon for brightening up dull corners.

Depending on where you live, it can be either annual or perennial – mine comes back year after year in our sunroom.

The dramatic flowers never fail to make guests ask, “How do you get it to look so good?” (Little do they know how easy it is!)

9. Rex Begonia Vine

The heart-shaped leaves of my Rex Begonia Vine make my plant-loving heart skip a beat every time I look at it.

Those frosty silver patterns with red undersides? Pure magic! It’s like nature’s version of those reversible sequin pillows my kids are obsessed with.

This climbing variety has turned an ordinary corner of our family room into something straight out of a home decor magazine.

10. Inch Plant (Wandering Jew/Purple Heart)

If you’re looking for a plant that’s as dramatic as a toddler at bedtime, the Inch Plant is your girl! Those stunning zebra-striped leaves are total showstoppers.

I’ve got mine in a hanging basket where its trailing stems can do their thing without interference from little hands or paw prints.

Trust me, once you get the hang of its care routine, it’ll thrive like a preschooler in a puddle!

11. Forest Cactus

When my friend first suggested a Forest Cactus, I was skeptical – aren’t cacti supposed to be spiky? But this unique spineless variety from Bolivia has completely won me over.

Its thick, spilling stems in bright green create the most amazing cascading effect from my kitchen shelf.

It’s become such a conversation starter during playdates – everyone wants to know about the “cactus that doesn’t hurt”!

12. String of Nickels

The moment I saw these adorable round leaves, I understood exactly why they call it String of Nickels – they really do look like little coins dangling from the vines!

It’s become my go-to plant for brightening up boring corners, especially in hanging baskets.

The cascading effect makes my guest bathroom feel like a tiny spa retreat (even with rubber duckies everywhere).

13. Green Coins

Don’t let the simple name fool you – these tiny leaves pack a serious style punch! The red undersides paired with those red-brown stems create the most gorgeous contrast.

I’ve positioned mine where the afternoon sun can highlight those beautiful color variations.

It’s like having a living piece of jewelry for your home!

14. Teddy Bear Vine

Remember that super soft blankie your kid wouldn’t let go of? That’s exactly what the leaves on this unusual vine feel like!

The chocolate brown fuzzy foliage with its teardrop shape adds such a unique texture to my plant collection.

My kids love gently petting the soft leaves (which is way better than them pulling on other plants, am I right?).

15. String of Hearts

Last but absolutely not least, my String of Hearts has turned into the perfect plant for my bedroom’s reading nook.

Those delicate thread-like stems with heart-shaped leaves in variegated silver-green are simply gorgeous.

I’ve got mine in a hanging basket near a bright window, where it creates the most romantic cascade of tiny hearts – like natural Valentine’s Day decor all year round!
